| Diomedes developed a lightweight low-pressure hydraulic actuator made from a carbon fibre cylinder lined with a high wear resistant gel coat. A light, high force lockable actuator was needed for sweep actuation of the Exulans outer wing sections. The expertise on working with composite materials led to the decision to develop a set of actuators made from carbon fibre. Endurance tests done on a test cylinder produced very favourable results. | ||||
